I've had transcendent experiences in the past, usually in wilderness, unaided by entheogens. At the time I did attribute them to the religion I had been taught as a child; later, when I dismantled that belief system, I had the pleasure of NOT being able to explain them at all. They were far richer and more intriguing that way, having no mysticism with which to 'defend' them. The Dream Machine reminds me of watching shadows of leaves flickering on a wall.
