  • Good luck, bud. I just moved my BF into my place from only 25 miles away, and that was enough for me. I can’t imagine the trouble of a transcontinental move.

Then again, the advantage is that you have no excuse to schlep from one place to another over a month to “gradually” move. I’d rather do it all in one fell swoop.

  • i have 2.25 weeks to prepare for my move. it’s not going well. why isn’t July yet so this can be over, and oh yeah, where’s that match?

Mine may have begun earlier, Mark, but will end — probably — later than yours, due to the whole, other-side-of-the-continent thing. Best wishes to you men in NJ, huh?

The last time I moved more than a suitcase’s worth, I wound up with the crate stuck at the Austrian border (it included a grandfather clock; I mean I really didn’t want to just walk away from it). Tear-streaked and beaten and exhausted and wiring them bribe money until they finally let me have my things. Man, I hate Austria.

But about you! You look so fantastic! And defiant! You’re made to win.

Best of luck with the move!!

Now I guess I’ll have to come to Vancouver once you get settled so that you can do some, um.. packing.

  • When we moved from Chicago to San Francisco, my man and I packed our entire lives into my old pickup with the locking cab. Husband is a genius with spatial relationship stuff, I couldn’t believe what kept fitting into that damn truck. Trying to drive it over Donner Pass on Route 80? Oy… Hill steep, truck full. Best of luck B!

  • No matter how early or how late you start, no matter how close or how far you move, it will always take at least three days longer than you think it will. That was my experience the last time I moved, in 2006. And that was a move of only five miles.

I’m looking to move again around September. I am looking forward to having a new place, but dreading the actual move.

Good luck, bstewart! You’ll be very welcome on the west coast of North America – even if it is a different country than mine.

Speaking of moving in with bf’s. Your table is still in the basement here…want it before ya go?

    • bstewart23

Um, a little late for that, hon, since everything left days ago. Hey, weren’t you supposed to be BUYING that from me? Also… IN THE BASEMENT? You DO know how much that table costs, right?

best of luck b! like all hells, eventually it comes to an end and you’ll kick back and let out a big sigh.

  • When I moved from CA to NY four years ago, for what was supposed to be a temporary move, I put all my stuff in storage. Where it now sits at $99/month. You’re better off doing it all now!
