So You Were Wondering Exactly WHO Is Still Supporting McCain/Palin?

You’ve done your reading, you’ve investigated the facts, you’ve cleared away the false, misleading accusations and outright lies. You’ve watched the debates. You’ve talked with your friends and families. You’ve read commentary from people around the world. And you’re left wondering… given all that you know, all that you’ve learned, all that you hope for America in the years ahead…

Who could possibly still be supporting the creaking corpse of Bush/Rove/Cheney Republigionism in its current, frighteningly phony incarnation of McCain/Palin?

As it turns out, it’s these people:

Video courtesy BloggerInterrupted, who notes:

I’ve been doing blog video for a while, and presidential rallies a lot longer.  And this is the most strange, ignorant, uninformed, angry, up-to-no-good, and gullible group of people I’ve ever seen at a political rally.

Ever.

This is what you’re up against, you guys. This is Idiocracy: The Prequel.

(Apologies to J.P. for my continued reworking of his Idiocracy: The Prelude meme.)

I really hope that there is enough money in the coffers yet to cover the Secret Service detail that Obama is clearly going to need. It breaks my heart to see things like this.

  • Why don’t they just come out and say “We’re racist assholes”? I so despair of this country.

  • [...] And, in a nod to the folks featured in the preceding post… [...]

  • Yeah, the “because he’s black” they were NOT saying was written on their faces in large, boldface type…

Ha my ex’s mother lives in Strongsville Oh, she was a huge Bush fan, however she is so disillusioned with the GOP she is voting for Obama. Plus she’s a giant Catholic, with a Mary on the half shell in the yard and everything. She says Stongsville is being taken over by xtian extremists from the city council to the school boards and she is done with there nonsense. She wants to move to Tucson..This is totally bitchy but most of the folks i met in Strongsville were overweight tornado fodder, where did they find the skinnys? Scary and sad indeed. I’m so excited to vote this year!

  • You know, I watched about half of that and just couldn’t bring myself to watch any more. I was too much like the torturous three days I spent in Alabama last weekend with people just like that.

  • [...] isn’t such a bad place. Oh, sure, you’ve got your garden-variety, thinly-veiled bigots there. But you’ve also got DEVO! Well, you did have DEVO — one of my favourite bands of the [...]

  • By that one guy’s line of thinking, since I was brought up straight, I should be straight.

Does that make me a terrorist?

I found that honestly terrifying. I was expecting that one crazy lady to maybe spit at the camera or maybe just jump straight to punching the cameraman in the kidneys for indirectly questioning the crowd’s gullibility to propaganda. I also find it terrifying that people like that will never think for themselves.
