So here’s the deal: Every now and then this Green on Thursday series hits a dry spell and there aren’t any sniveling closet cases or heroic gay icons or droolworthy heterostuds that spring to mind. I’m sure they’re out there, but me throwing up just any GoT celebrity would be akin to me wearing a pair of pleated, khaki Dockers™ to The Eagle.

It’s not gonna happen.

But I can be just as uncool as that. I can rattle off a shitload of clichés for your eye-rolling enjoyment. This is the week for it, for real. Cause a little trouble, you guys. Please.

Cliché-O-Rama:
Respect yourself,
cherish your friends,
expand your horizons,
stay open to possibilities,
be serious about having fun,
say what you mean and mean what you say,
celebrate sex,
recognize what-you-see-is-what-you-get,
speak up — your voice is louder than you think,
stay interested and interesting,
regret nothing except that which you’ve been afraid to try,
it’s better to be single and lonely than in a wrong relationship and alone,
don’t let the other guy have all the fun,
there will always be that certain someone whose answer will be “no”,
treat others as you want to be treated,
go forward only,
be enthusiastic about everything you do,
commit fully or not at all,
work hard for what’s important to you,
treat others with more kindness than you think is necessary,
fall in love — just a little bit — with everything (and everyone) you do,
want only that which wants you and, more than anything…
Love fearlessly.

In the suit my parents gave me.
Cause Some Trouble

Important Reminder: The “Green on Thursday” series always reveals very much more about your host at This.That.No Other. than it does about any of the featured personalities.

for real–the book of bstewart23. no eye rolling necessary. Its nice to hear truth spoke plain. fearlessly is the word–and the hardest part. it’s what drives the “‘i’m tired of lezzies with their tits out, and why is that fat hairy guy taking his shirt off” bullshit.
more fearlessness indeed. and love. hard to remember.
thanks for this. and, um, thanks for taking your clothes off and sitting in a chair and taking a picture of it.

What about “Dance like there’s nobody watching”?

OH! And what about “To love another, you must first love yourself”

I got a million of ‘em!

Awesome. Like Desiderata without the glurge. Also, yeah, nice photo. Very… inspiring.

I think the Dilbert version goes:

    Dance like it hurts
Love like you need the money
    Work when somebody’s watching

Here, here, sir. Live without fear: that’s been my new motto. Do what you can when you can, and don’t be afraid to be great.

    And, great picture, btw.

If I looked like that, I’d never put clothes on. Sorry, I’m having a hard time getting past the picture.

For inspiration, how about if you’re not part of the solution get out of the way.

I’m reading these here comments and thinking: “What picture?”

I guess it was slow loading. Or I was.

    So…hello, Brett!!

I guess my comment says more about me than anything else. Duh.

Thanks, NPD–Dilbert’s words are ones I can live by.

And yes, that’s a splendid photo, Brett. Did Champ take it, or is it one of those timer thingies?
