Fair(e)y Tale

Obama Posters by Artist Shepard Fairey
Y’know, there’s considerable (and justifiable) controversy over the originality of artist Shepard Fairey’s work — like here and here — but these iconic Obama posters get a solid pass, resonating with the imagery of a time we feared had been forgotten. A time of hope. And equality. And real change. And people, not corporations. And unity.
These posters burrow under a cynic’s skin and recharge that buried spirit.
Democrats, get all your anger and hurt feelings out now, and join together for a united campaign. America, do the right thing, heal the wounds inside your divided nation, and fix the damage done to the world and your reputation in the world.
It’s not a fairy tale. It’s real. It’s necessary. It’s possible.

Thank You…
Do those work with my 3-D goggles?
I hear ya, man. I mailed in my New Mexico voter registration this week, so I am in the process of getting all set for November. I listened to Obama’s speech this past Tuesday, and I was torn between being really excited, and trying not to get my hopes up. Hey, I was born in 1975, this whole optimism thing is a weird fit. You’ve read my rants on other boards that we both hang out at, so I won’t get into that here, but I see in Obama a real generational reboot that America REALLY needs right now. All the kids who were born in 1990 (the first year since the Baby Boom to top the Baby Boom birth rate) are starting to be able to vote now, so who knows? I know I have spent my whole life in the Vietnam Hangover, being preached at by folks who lived through that era, and learning nothing from it. I need a president who doesn’t have a whole airport carousel’s worth of generational baggage. Obama’s my man.
