When I first heard the Aussie technolectro duo The Presets a couple of years ago, it was like my two of my favourite ’80s genres — Industrial and New Romantic Techno — had done some serious drugs, went out to a dank and very loud nightclub, fell in love while dancing under seizure-inducing lights, fucked until dawn and made a baby.
A snarling, operatic, pounding, sexy, growling, sweeping, pulsating baby.
Their material has been described as the music at “the fork in the road between heaven and hell” and I’m inclined to list off all the bands whose marks have clearly been left on The Presets but, really, just check out the video for “This Boy’s in Love”, from their sophomore album, Apocalypso, out in North America in two weeks:
“Don’t tell the world what we’ve known.”

Love this track. There’s a great little remix of it out there, too:

You’re more than welcome, david, and, YES!, spread the word! Four people at my office are currently loading up their iTunes with Presets songs. Also? What a jaw-droppingly stunning gallery of work on your site! Seriously, people, check it out while listening to The Presets.
And, Adam, thanks so much, not just for the link to the terrific remix but for the news (at that link) that The Presets will be in Toronto on 31 May, at Anti on Queen West. Coolio.
Excellent music, excellent video, excellent taste as always. And congratulations on your bum.
thanks brett, you’re too kind. and yes, to echo another’s sentiments–congratulations on your bum.
