This post reminds me of the chewing out you once gave to younger gay fellas over on Hissyfit, whining about the hassle of using protection. He was a knucklehead, and with any luck you knocked some sense into him. At least condoms don’t screw up your hormones…

I have this weird vision of you taking this post and making a YouTube video post of it, filmed as a parody of a 1950s health class video. White lab coats, lots of Brylcreemed guys, and increasingly blue language. It would be glorious!

Well, snotty, from the link above, the NY State Health Department says they don't provide adequate protection because they don't stay in place if you remove the inner ring. To this I answer: leave the ring in. And whether you leave it in or not, use way more lube than you think necessary. Problem solved. It's important to note that right before saying that female condoms are not recommended, the NYSDoH also states that regular condoms fail during anal sex more than they do during oral or vaginal sex. I don't think statements like that, while true, are helpful, as they're inclined to scare people from engaging in safer sex even if proper usage guidelines are followed. And thanks, all, for the kind words and comments. (Heh, "manhole covers"!) One runs the risk, of course, with such a frank and, obviously, personally-revelatory posting like this one. But we really, really need to talk about safer sex practices more than ever. As Mr. Eric Leven states on his blog:

If it says “female condom” on the package you show, and if the New York Dept. of Health does not recommend them for anal sex, is this because of liability? Are they saying this method is less safe than regular condoms?

kinda makes me scratch my head (no, not that one) to think i haven’t heard my ASO bring this up at all.
and CAS was just here to give us a 2-day seminar on safer sex, no mention of it at all.

could be worse tho — we could live under bush’s tyranny and not receive condoms at all.
